This series centers on the stretch of highway I-87 that runs through the Adirondacks in Upstate New York, from Albany to the Canadian border, known to locals as the Northway. The photos seek to chart a history of the present for the region -- how its political economy is deeply intertwined with the landscape -- a metaphor for the country as a whole. Out of the way places shot at night predominate the project.
